　　洛杉矶接连发生9起绑架案，被绑架者来自各行各业，有神父（马克·麦克雷 Marc Macaulay 饰）、检察官（梅丽莎·乔·哈特 Melissa Joan Hart 饰）、演员还有俱乐部老板，彼此间似乎没有任何关联，而绑架案都由一人所为，一个戴蓝色面具、一身黑衣的男子。此案惊动洛城，警方全员出动，始终找不到任何头绪。与此同时，在城市某各个角落黑暗潮湿的地下室内，9个被绑架者迎来了人生中最为痛苦难熬的时刻。蒙面人要求他们思考被绑架的原因，然后每个10分钟便杀掉一人，直到他们找到原因为止。
